Run for Love 5K

Today I finished my 5K in 37 minutes and 25 seconds!  Not much faster than the one January 1st but I only took one walk break and was able to jog the rest.  I am slowly but surely making improvements!

It was super duper cold at 9 degrees out with a windchill to make the real feel a negative 2.

I earned my second finishers medal and it is a sweet looking chocolate bar.

The race was really well organized, the course was a nice run through a park and a suburban neighborhood and I loved how they sprinkled the last quarter of a mile till the finish line with chocolate candy bars.  There were also yummy brownies and hot chocolate at the end.  It was run for love and chocolate after all :)

30

Hard to believe, but I am 30 now.  Wow.  I remember when 30 sounded so old and now I am.  My 30's are going to kick butt because my life is headed in the right direction and I am hopeful.  My birthday weekend was the best.  My best friend Cathy flew out for the weekend and it was wonderful.

We went to do Rocky Horror which is one of my favorites, listened to some jazz music, I had my one alcoholic drink for the weekend, then the rest of the time we played in the hotel pool and hung out enjoying seeing each other for the first time in 3 years.  It was a fantastic start to my 30's and I hope it only gets better from here.

Polar Dash 5K

Today I did the Polar Dash 5K to start 2016 off right!  I finished in just under 38 minutes!

I am so proud of my time!  I walked less than five minutes of that, the rest I jogged.  The first mile and a half straight I was able to jog.  By my next 5K in February I think I'll be able to jog the entire time.

It was a nice race and for sure one I would do again.  Maybe next year I'll sign up for their 10K.  It was however a very cold race and the Polar Dash name was very fitting.

I've concluded I am not a very photogenic runner, but I'm just excited I'm able to run now.

I am also super excited I earned my first Medal!  It's a pretty spiffy one too.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!  It has been a wonderful Christmas season.  This year for Christmas I received items to help me with my weight-loss and fitness.  My Aunt and Uncle sent me Christmas money early in November so I could purchase a nice pair of running shoes.  I have already put many miles on them and plan to put many many more.

The other item I was able to purchase in November was a Fitbit!  I love it and it really helps motivate me.

On Christmas day I received a lot of clothes that I desperately needed since loosing weight means you are always needing more clothes. (Not complaining)  I also unwrapped running gloves and a running headband!  Which is great because it's getting cold out there.

Yay for fitness for Christmas!

Roller Skating

Today I took Addison roller skating for the first time!  Getting up on roller skates is not something I would of even thought about doing 70 lbs ago.  I hadn't been on roller skates in years, but I actually didn't do so bad and had a great time.  I am so happy I am getting closer and closer to my goal of becoming a fit mom.  The kind of mom that can join in on the fun and teach her kid how to enjoy physical activities.

Turkey Trot 5K

I finished my second 5K for Thanksgiving today.  I finished in under 45 minutes!  That's over 6 minutes faster than my first 5K in October!  I jogged and walked it, about half and half.  Okay, maybe a little less than half of it was jogging, but pretty thrilled I can jog at all now.  Below is the official bib time.

I was super happy with how I have improved in the past month and excited to have my family there to support me on Thanksgiving day.  It was a nice flat race around the Indiana State University Campus.

I had to take my shirt off under my sweatshirt during the race and my headband.  I just got too hot which was amazing because it was far from warm.  Here I am at the end, happy and proud :)

What's your WHY?

I joined an online support group and today we were asked to answer the following.  "Finding your Motivation, WHY you will actually follow through".

The short answer is for my daughter.  I want to be there for her when she grows up.  I want to be there for her now.  I want to be a good role model for her.  I want to be an inspiration for her.  I want to be in pictures with her.  I want to be able to run and play with her and keep up with her for years to come.

I will also do this for me.  I want to have my confidence back.  I want to be able to do what I want without a fear of if I physically can.  I want to be able to buy whatever clothes I want and for them to have my size in them.  I want to be healthy and live a long life so that not only can I see my daughter grow up but I get to meet all my grandchildren, nieces and nephews one day.

I will do this for my future.

I will do this because going back is not an option.
