21 Day Fix Results

I have officially completed the 21 Day Fix and not to toot my own horn, but I did awesome!  I went from 208 to 198.6 for a loss of 9.4 pounds in three weeks.  I think it is safe to say I am finally past my plateau!

For those that know nothing about the 21 Day Fix it is a 3 week program where you do a half hour workout each day and eat according to their plan.

There are 7 workouts for the 7 days of the week with upper fix, lower fix, pilates, yoga and cardio.  I lifted weights for literally the first time in my life and am proud to say I have a tiny bit of muscle in my arms now that has never been there in my adult life :)  There was a modifier in the workout videos that I followed for most of the program which I'm totally okay with because that means I have lots of room for improvement.  There was a great variety of exercises in the 7 days and it may sound silly, but I was shocked that I could sweat so much in a half hour with a at home workout.  It was also fun to have an adorable three year old helper during my workouts, although not as fun when she used me as a great obstacle course during my yoga poses.

The food plan was the main reason I decided to try the program. It came with 6 different colored containers for the different food groups and then depending on the calorie range you should have you have a certain number of each container each day.  Sounds complicated, but is oh so easy to follow.  If it fits in the container, eat it, simple.  It was all real food and food I'd already been eating, but it taught me portions and how much of each food I should be eating.  What I learned was that I was not eating nearly enough!  No wonder I'd been on a plateau since November my body likely thought I was starving.  My favorite part of the food plan was Shakeology.  I literally ate a banana, peanut butter and a shake every morning for 21 days and it was a magical breakfast that I didn't have to think about at all.  I believe after cooking 3 meals a day for yourself for about ten months straight it makes one really appreciate an easy breakfast option ;)

Now the results!  As I said I lost 9.4 pounds in the 21 Days.  I also lost 1 inch in my chest, 1/2 an inch in each arm, 1 inch in each thigh, 1/2 inch in each calf and 4 inches in my waist!

I'm happy with the results after only 3 weeks and plan to do another round soon.  Non scale victory number 1 is that my running has gotten easier with the workouts.  Victory number 2 is that with getting enough calories and the proper nutrition my hair started to grow back!  Victory number 3 is around week three although you can't see them, I can now feel my collarbones, they were under there the whole time!

Lucky Clover 4 Miler

Today was my first 4 Mile Race, The Lucky Clover!  I finished in 49 minutes 14 seconds for a split pace of 12:19!  I'm pretty happy with that :)  It was a fun race with lots of people in green and Irish music.

The first mile was the hardest which is weird, but true.  Surprisingly my legs didn't end up hurting for this one, just got winded.  I think with a little more willpower I would of made it the whole 4 miles without walking, but ended up walking about a half mile of it.

At the end it was totally worth it for a medal that pleases my little Irish heart <3  Seriously, it even matches my thumb ring.  At the end there was also Green Beer, a live band, donuts, water and of course bananas.  I enjoyed a banana and water.

Since green isn't something I wear much of I went with a Kiss Me I'm Irish theme instead and a touch of green.

One of the photos of me running isn't terrible enough for me to hide forever...

I look like I'm really moving, even if I look like I am in pain :)  Now that I have concurred 4 Miles onto longer and crazier distances I go!

21 Day Fix

Tomorrow is Day 1 of the 21 Day fix.  Since I've been at a plateau since November I decided I needed to try something different.  Food is prepped, hand weights bought, all material read and I am ready to go full force with the program for the next three weeks.  I'll give you a full update at the end :)
